Your use of the Your Building Web site constitutes your agreement to this privacy policy and consent to the terms herein.
Your Building is bound by the National Privacy Principles contained in the Commonwealth Privacy Act.
Your identity on this site
You can contribute to this site by creating a login. When you login any information you contribute to the site appears with your username displayed. By clicking on your username, other visitors to the site can see information displayed in the profile your provide.
Information we collect and how we use it
Readers who do not login: for legal reasons we may collect and store the IP address of the your computer, the your browser software and operating system, the date and time you access the site and the Internet address of any Web site from which you clicked directly to our site ("HTTP referrer"). We may use this information to measure the number of visitors to various sections of Your Building and we sometimes share this information, usually in aggregated form, with third parties for advertising or commercial purposes (see "Advertising Partners", below).
Logged-in readers: we collect and store the information you provide through the registration process, including your name, email address and username. If you engage in a transaction while logged on to our site, we we collect and store information about the transaction. We disclose your username, bookmarked articles, and posting history to other readers. We will not disclose your email address to other site visitors or third parties unless you use it as your login ID.
We may disclose personal information if we are required to do so by law or if we believe that such action is necessary to (1) comply with the law or with legal process; (2) protect and defend our rights and property; (3) protect against misuse or unauthorized use of Your Building.
Your Building may use information it collects from you for the primary purpose for which it is collected and for such other secondary purposes that are related to the primary purpose of collection. Your Building generally uses personal information to:
- provide you with information you have requested
- personalise and customise your experiences on Your Building;
- help Your Building manage and enhance its services;
- communicate with you;
- provide you with ongoing information about developments on Your Building in which Your Building believes you may be interested;
- give you the opportunity from time to time to receive e-mail and 'e-newsletters' from Your Building
- In most cases where Your Building asks you to provide information about yourself, if you do not provide Your Building with that information, Your Building will not be able to provide you with the requested product or service.
Updating personal information
You can update your Your Building membership information via Your Profile accessible within your Library within Your Building.
You can generally update personal information that is not membership information on the website of Your Building where you submitted that information. Where personal information is no longer required by Your Building, it will be destroyed or de-identified.
You have the right to seek access the personal information held about you and to advise Your Building of any inaccuracy. There are some exceptions to this right set out in the Privacy Act.
If you make an access request, Your Building will ask you to verify your identity and specify what information you require. The CRC for Construction Innovation may charge a fee to cover the costs of meeting your request.
Cookies
Cookies are small text files that our site can send to your browser for storage on your hard drive. Cookies can make your use of our site easier by saving your status and preferences for your next visit to Your Building. Due to technical limitations in our software, if you disable cookies in your browser, you won't be able to register and login. A browser with disabled cookies is still able to read any of the content on our site.
Some Your Building pages incorporate HTML or Javascript code that references advertisements or Google Analytics tracking blank images. Advertisers and Google may set cookies in your browser as well. Additionally, Your Building may choose to share information of value to advertising partners (see "Advertising Partners", below).
Advertising Partners
At launch, advertising on Your Building is displayed manually, however we reserve the right, in future, to engage in advertising using third parties including but not limited to Google, Yahoo, Sensis and Doubleclick. The information shared may include the IP address of the your computer, your browser software and operating system, the date and time you access the site and the Internet address of any Web site from which you clicked directly to our site ("HTTP referrer"). Your personal identity or email address will not be provided to these advertisers by Your Building, although they may use cookies to track your movements, and may have other mechanisms for associating you with your browsing history.
Some of these advertising companies may be based elsewhere, for example in the United States or the Netherlands. By visiting Your Building site, you agree that these advertising partners may use your personal information in this way.
Your Password
We store your password in clear text, currently, in our database. This has the advantage that we can email it to you if you forget it. It has the disadvantage that if our security is compromised, your password will be available to others. Please do not use the same password at Your Building that you use at security-critical sites, such as online banks.
Sale or Transfer of Your Building
If Your Building is sold or transferred, the user database of Your Building could be sold as part of that transaction and all User Information accessed by such successor or purchaser.
