Summary

Garnaut Climate Change Review

The Garnaut Climate Change Review has been commissioned by Australia's Commonwealth, state and territory governments to examine the impacts, challenges and opportunities of climate change for Australia. The Garnaut Climate Change Review Draft Report will be launched on 4 July 2008 with an address by Professor Ross Garnaut to the National Press Club. The Draft Report and other supporting materials will be published on the Review's web site on the same day. The Final Report is due to be released in late September 2008.

Public forums

Professor Garnaut will be hosting public forums in early to mid July in cities around Australia for discussions with the community on the Draft Report. These forums will provide the principal opportunity for individuals and organisations to discuss the Draft Report with Professor Garnaut and the Review Secretariat. Details of the event dates, locations and how to register will be provided via email from the Secretariat and the Review web site by mid June. Should you or your organisation not be able to attend one of the forums, or you have additional comments, the Secretariat will accept comments in writing on the Draft Report.

Response to call for submission

The Garnaut Climate Change Review had a tremendous response to its call for submissions. Almost 4000 submissions were received by the Review, including almost 1000 individual submissions and 3000 form-letter submissions. The submissions, which are available on the Review's web site, are now being considered by the Review team in the preparation of the Draft Report. A short summary paper covering issues raised in submissions will be published on their web site in July
