Sydney Park pavilion is about to have its photovoltaic (PV) panels installed as part of a $4.3 million, 30-site City of Sydney installation project.
The City has already installed a combination of solar hot water and photovoltaic systems at 18 sites including Town Hall, libraries, community centres and depots.
Buildings to still receive solar power include Paddington and Glebe Town Hall, Town Hall House, Redfern Oval grandstand and Railway Square bus interchange, among others.
According to the City, it has been able to apply twice the number of PV panels for less than half the price budgeted in 2010.
It says that through the project, surplus power from the PV panels will be exported via its local electricity distribution network to other City-owned buildings.
