CBRE has launched its Real Green Research Challenge program. Over the next four years the program will fund up to US $1 million in independent academic research into sustainable commercial real estate.
CBRE is accepting submissions for research proposals, with initial funding awarded in February 2013. Selected applicants can receive up to $250,000, and additionally will have access to CBRE’s market data and resources.
Applicants are selected by a panel of internal and external representatives from academia, non-government organisations and industry.
CBRE says the program will fund research on productivity, large scale predictive modeling, energy efficient technology, data management, diagnostic tools and market availability.
“People with good ideas often lack financial support and access to real-time market data and insight into building construction, occupancy and management that a global firm like CBRE can provide,” CBRE president Bob Sulentic says.
