GPT’s Charlestown Square development, which includes Australia’s first retail solar thermal plant, won two awards at the International Council of Shopping Centres’ Asia Pacific Awards.
GPT took out a ‘gold’ award for sustainable design, and a ‘silver’ award for development and design. Charlestown Square is located 6km south of Newcastle in NSW.
According to GPT, the judges noted the redevelopment’s minimisation of ongoing environmental impact, and its focus on the community in its design.
